Set amid a lush garden of tropical fruits and flowers, overlooking Kapue Stream, Our Place Bed & Breakfast is a lovely cedar home in the village of Papa'ikou, four miles north of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Here you'll find privacy and seclusion -- and you're still just minutes away from Hilo and the spectacular Hamakua coastline of Hawai'i. Terrific surfing at Papa'ikou Mill is an easy walk -- just half a mile away from Our Place Bed and Breakfast. 

Your hosts are Ouida Trahan and Sharon Miller. Ouida is a retired medical doctor who now practices as a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist trained in traditional Chinese medicine. She is past president of the Traditional Chinese Medical College of Hawaii, located in Waimea. Her hobby is gardening, and the gardens at Our Place are Ouida's design.

The great room, splendid with its high cathedral ceiling, has a library, fireplace and grand piano, all of which guests are invited to enjoy. 

The great room and our comfortable guest rooms share a Hawaiian-style lanai that looks out over Kupue stream and the gardens below. From here, it's an easy stroll into the village of Papai'kou, a charming plantation town that's excellent for walking and jogging. The village post office and general store are close by.

Set in a lush tropical valley and bordered by Kapue Stream, the gardens of Our Place Bed and Breakfast are designed and maintained by your hosts, Ouida and Sharon Trahan. 

After breakfast, take a few minutes to stroll through the palms and bamboo. Enjoy the brilliant colors of the exotic bird of paradise, arthurium, and a special display of orchids. Avocado, mango and citrus fruits flourish on the slope above your lodging.
