Hale Makamae B&B is a tropical paradise amidst beautiful gardens and a peaceful serene ambiance. A wonderful place to enjoy a piece of the old Hawaii in the privacy of your own suite. Close to hot ponds, black sand beaches, new lava flows, in an area full of history. Delicious tropical island breakfast served.

Our Hawaii B & B is located in the beautiful and tropical area of Puna on the Big Island of Hawaii, 30 minutes south of Hilo. Accommodations at Hale Makamae Bed & Breakfast offer
the ideal place to take some time out and experience the real Hawaii. Our home is a plantation style house nestled between palms and fruit trees in the Keahialaka Rain Forest. We invite you to stay with us and welcome you to enjoy the Aloha spirit of our home.

Breakfast Information

A wonderful gourmet breakfast is served every morning at 8a.m. in our cozy breezeway. Breakfast offers a variety of fruits, meats, cheeses, eggs, cereals, jams, breads, pancakes or french toast. Kona coffee, tea, juice and milk complete your selection. The breakfast room is a perfect place for our orchids to grow and you will be able to see why the Big Island is also called the Orchid Isle.

As your hosts we enjoy the time during breakfast, when we can share some of the secrets of this area or just talk story with you.

Cancellation Policy

Deposit required for first two nights. Should you have to cancel your reservation we will refund your deposit, if the cancellation was made at least 30 prior to arrival. No refunds are given for early check-out, unless the room can be re-booked.

Directions

From Hilo Town/Airport drive in the direction of Volcano. Turn left at the Keaau by-pass onto Pahoa-Kalapana-Highway (Hwy. 130). Follow Hwy 130 past Pahoa, until you come to mile marker 13. Slow down, a few hundred yards further turn left into Leilani Estates. Now, follow Leilani Avenue to Makamae Street. Turn left here and drive almost to the end of Makamae Street. Our Bed & Breakfast is the last house on the right hand side. It has a long low lava rock wall and a black iron gate at the driveway. The house number on the mailbox across the street is 13-3315. There is also a small sign next to the driveway.

If you are coming from Volcano, follow signs to Keaau/Hilo and turn right in Keaau onto Hwy 130. From there, follow the directions given above.
