Cedar House is a Bed & Breakfast in Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Enjoy the spacious accommodations of our bed and breakfast home in the heart of Kona coffee country. Hawaii is justly proud of its famous Kona coffee and the Kona region is notable for its history and culture. Explore Kona from Cedar House Bed & Breakfast and sample the very best that Hawaii has to offer. And of course drink your fill of Cedar House Bed & Breakfast own Kona Estate coffee.
Enjoy expansive views and a hearty breakfast buffet including our home grown 100% Kona coffee. Relax and sample tropical country living. Coffee, bananas, papayas and pineapple all grow here. Kealakekua Bay is just a short drive away - hike there, swim with dolphins or kayak to Captain Cook monument. We also welcome families with children. English and German are spoken.
The South Kona Area
Kona is "Coffee Country". The South Kona area in particular is known for the excellent coffee it produces, and the great views of Kealakekua Bay. Our town is a small community of local Hawaiians, Japanese and others with small to medium farms, growing coffee, macadamia nuts and various tropical fruits. Kealakekua Bay is perfect for snorkeling and kayaking and there is a great hiking trail to Captain Cook monument. South Kona has many local shops, great restaurants and gift stores. Go golfing or deep-sea fishing nearby. Visit any of many historical sites, macadamia nut factories or working coffee plantations. An active volcano is located just 1-1/2 hrs. away, as well as Mauna Kea, where you can ski in season or gaze at the stars.
Our Bed and Breakfast
We are lucky enough to have beautiful, panoramic ocean views, while being located "off the beaten path" in a coffee farming area. Surrounded by big trees and tropical fruits, the peacefulness of our area is calming and one has the feeling of stepping back in time. As your hosts, we offer warm, friendly advice and a superb breakfast buffet!

Directions
Captain Cook is 25 minutes from Kailua-Kona and 35 minutes from Keahole Kona International Airport.
From Keahole Airport-Kona, turn right onto Highway 19 South. This road becomes Route 11 after Kailua-Kona. Look for green mile markers on the left hand side. When you reach mile marker 110, you are in the town of Captain Cook. At Kealakekua Ranch Center, on the mountain side of route 11, turn left, onto Kiloa Road between the center and the local Post Office. Go ALL the way to the top of the hill, when the two lane road becomes a single lane. At the top, turn right at the T-junction. The road winds through coffee farms. At the next junction, turn left, then take the next left, at the Bamboo Patch (there is also a sign that says 15 mph - it's rusty, but readable!) Follow this road until you reach Cedar House. We are located on the left hand side of the road (Makai, ocean) side.
